"Pieces of Me" is a project where students create large scale visual narratives that explore identity both biologically and symbolically. Students are doing various writing assignments and discussions in Humanities class that explore their identity. In Biology they are looking at health and wellness and how this shapes who they are as people. The "Pieces of Me" paintings visually incorporate what they have learned about themselves in all of their classes. In Art, students have been thoughtful about color theory, composition, shape, form, foreground, middle and background to create their paintings. As a class, we have also discussed the importance of audience. We are looking to create a visual display that makes people wonder about the narratives being shared. Our hope is that people are drawn to the visual narratives by making connections to their own life stories.
